
Wang Chi-tsan
Wang Chi-tsan, born in Taiwan in 1961, is a 9-dan professional Go player affiliated with the Japanese Nihon Ki-in. A pupil of the renowned Kato Masao, he is known for his aggressive and combative playing style, often focused on capturing his opponent's groups. His career peaked between the late 1990s and the early 2000s, a period during which he dominated the Japanese Go scene. Among his most significant achievements are three consecutive wins in the prestigious Kisei title, obtained from 2000 to 2002 by defeating Cho Chikun. He also won the Oza title four consecutive times (1998-2001) and the Judan title in 2002. Thanks to these and numerous other successes, Wang Chi-tsan is universally recognized as one of the strongest and most influential players of his generation, capable of competing at the highest levels for over a decade.
