William Claude Dukenfield (1880-1946), known professionally as W.C. Fields, was a renowned American comedian, juggler, and actor, an iconic figure of vaudeville and classic Hollywood cinema. His career took off in vaudeville as a skilled juggler, before successfully transitioning to Broadway comedies. The transition to sound film cemented his fame, thanks to the creation of an iconic persona: a hard-drinking, boastful misanthrope, characterized by a distinctive nasal drawl and cynical humor. His most celebrated performances include films such as *You're Telling Me!* (1934), his masterpiece *The Bank Dick* (1940), which he also wrote, and *My Little Chickadee* (1940) with Mae West. He was also noted for his acclaimed performance as Micawber in *David Copperfield* (1935). Considered one of the greatest legends of American comedy, his contribution to the film industry was recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
