William Theodore Katt (born February 16, 1951) is an American actor, the son of actors Bill Williams and Barbara Hale. He achieved international fame playing Tommy Ross in Brian De Palma's horror classic *Carrie* (1976). His most iconic role, however, remains that of the lead character Ralph Hinkley in the cult television series *The Greatest American Hero* (1981–1983), a teacher who receives an alien suit with special powers. His filmography also includes notable roles such as in John Milius's film *Big Wednesday* (1978) and the role of detective Paul Drake Jr. in the *Perry Mason* revival television films, where he acted alongside his mother. Although his career is not filled with major awards, Katt is widely recognized for bringing memorable characters to life that have left a mark on popular culture, solidifying his status as a cult actor in the television and film landscape of the 1970s and 1980s.
