Xenia Valderi
Xenia Valderi, stage name of Xenia Valdettaro (Split, 21 January 1921 – Rome, 3 November 2008), was an Italian actress of Dalmatian origin. Primarily active in the 1950s, she established herself as one of the most refined and versatile character actresses of post-war Italian cinema, distinguished by her elegance and screen presence. Her career is inextricably linked to collaborations with the major directors of the era. Federico Fellini directed her in the role of the seductive wife of the head of the acting troupe in *I vitelloni* (1953), while Michelangelo Antonioni cast her in a significant part in the ensemble drama *Le amiche* (1955). She was also a prominent performer in the *commedia all'italiana* genre, working with Dino Risi in films such as *Il segno di Venere* (1955) and *Il vedovo* (1959), and with Mario Monicelli in *Un eroe dei nostri tempi* (1955), often alongside Alberto Sordi. Although she did not win major awards, her recognition lies in her consistent presence in seminal works that have marked the history of Italian cinema. She retired from acting in the early 1960s.
