Yoshimi Jô
Yoshimi Jô, also known as Yoshimi P-We, is a Japanese musician, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, and a prominent figure in the international experimental music scene. She is primarily known as the drummer and a founding member of the noise rock band Boredoms, with whom she has helped to define a unique and influential sound since the mid-1980s. Alongside her work with Boredoms, she formed the all-female project OOIOO, for which she is the leader, guitarist, and vocalist, exploring sounds that blend psychedelic rock, tribal rhythms, and electronics. Her career is also characterized by numerous prestigious collaborations; among the most notable is her work with the American band The Flaming Lips, for whom she inspired the title and concept of the 2002 album *Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots*. Recognized for her energetic and unconventional drumming style and her versatility as an artist, she is considered one of the most creative and innovative figures in Japanese avant-garde music.
