Yuriy Polikarpovich Kuznetsov (1941-2003) was a Russian poet, translator, and literary critic, considered one of the most original and complex voices of the second half of the 20th century. Emerging in the 1960s, he developed a distinctive style characterized by a tragic and metaphysical worldview, often in contrast with the canons of socialist realism. His poetics is founded on complex metaphors, rich mythological and biblical imagery, and a deep connection to Russian spiritual and national roots. Among his most significant collections are *Going Out onto the Road, the Soul Turned Back* (1978) and *The Russian Knot*, while his celebrated poem "Atomic Fairy Tale" is an emblematic example of his apocalyptic and visionary style. In addition to his poetic work, he was an acclaimed translator from English and Slavic languages. For his contribution to literature, his work was honored with major awards, including the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 1990, consolidating his influence on contemporary Russian poetry.
