Yves Montand
Yves Montand, stage name for Ivo Livi, was a French actor and singer of Italian origin, an icon of world cinema. Although his career began in music hall, Montand quickly established himself as one of the most charismatic actors of the 20th century.
His filmography is rich in celebrated titles: he excelled in dramatic works such as Henri-Georges Clouzot's *The Wages of Fear* (1953), where he played tense and complex roles. Subsequently, he became an iconic figure of politically committed cinema, particularly with Costa-Gavras, delivering masterful performances in *Z* (1969) and *The Confession* (1970), films that reflected his deep political convictions.
He demonstrated great versatility, transitioning from cynical characters to simple and idealistic men, as in the successful films *Jean de Florette* and *Manon of the Spring* (1986). His style was characterized by an intense screen presence and an unmistakable voice.
