Yvonne Clech

Yvonne Clech (Guingamp, June 3, 1920 – Paris, February 25, 2010) was a French actress. Active mainly from the 1950s to the 1980s, she divided her career between the stage and the big screen. In theater, she was a prominent figure at the Théâtre National Populaire (TNP) under the direction of Jean Vilar, but it was through cinema that she achieved widespread international fame. Her most iconic and recognized role is that of Germaine Pivert, the snobbish and xenophobic wife of Victor Pivert (played by Louis de Funès), in Gérard Oury's cult film *The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob* (1973). Her filmography includes collaborations with major directors, such as in Louis Malle's *Zazie in the Metro* (1960) and Jacques Besnard's *Le Grand Restaurant* (1966), often in supporting roles characterized by a distinct comic verve. After a prolific career, she retired from acting in the late 1980s, leaving a legacy primarily linked to popular French comedy.
