Aoi Nakajima (born 1945) is a Japanese illustrator and artist who became a prominent figure in the Japanese counterculture of the late 1960s and 1970s. Her distinctive style blends psychedelic elements with influences from Art Nouveau and ukiyo-e prints, and is characterized by vibrant colors, sinuous lines, and meticulous attention to detail. Her career includes notable collaborations, such as creating album covers for rock bands (including Flied Egg), illustrations for fashion magazines such as *An-an*, and iconic posters for the avant-garde theater company Tenjō Sajiki, directed by Shūji Terayama. Her works, which often depict ethereal female figures and natural motifs, have earned her widespread critical acclaim.
