David Michael Emge (Evansville, September 9, 1946 – Evansville, January 20, 2024) was an American actor. His career is inextricably linked to the role of Stephen "Flyboy" Andrews in George A. Romero's cult horror film *Dawn of the Dead* (1978). His portrayal of the helicopter pilot, and particularly his memorable transformation into one of the undead, established him as a genre icon and earned him lasting recognition among fans. Trained in drama at the University of Evansville, he began his career in Off-Broadway theater in New York before landing the role that made him famous. Although his filmography was limited, he also appeared in other genre productions, including *Basket Case 2* (1990) and *Hellmaster* (1992). Despite his few film appearances, the character of Flyboy was enough to secure him a permanent place in horror cinema history, making him a beloved and internationally recognizable figure.
