Jack Beresford
Jack Beresford, born Jack Beresford-Wiszniewski, was a British rower, considered one of the most iconic figures in the history of his sport. His career is notable for its exceptional longevity and Olympic success, having participated in five consecutive Olympic Games and winning a medal in each of them. His journey began with a silver medal in the single sculls in Antwerp 1920, followed by gold in the same event in Paris 1924. He then won a silver medal in the eight in Amsterdam 1928 and two more gold medals: in the coxless four in Los Angeles 1932 and in the double sculls in Berlin 1936. This tally of three gold and two silver medals made him one of the first athletes in history to reach this milestone. In Berlin, he also had the honour of being the flag bearer for the British delegation. After his retirement, he contributed to the organisation of the 1948 London Games, consolidating his legacy in the world of rowing.
