James Hong, born in 1929, is an American actor, producer, and director of Chinese descent, whose career spans over seven decades. Considered one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood history, he has more than 600 credits across film, television, and voice acting. Active since the 1950s, he co-founded the East West Players, the oldest Asian American theater company in the United States, to promote the representation of artists of Asian descent. His notable roles include the sorcerer David Lo Pan in *Big Trouble in Little China*, the eye designer Hannibal Chew in *Blade Runner*, and Gong Gong in the Academy Award-winning film *Everything Everywhere All at Once*. In voice acting, he is known for voicing Mr. Ping in the *Kung Fu Panda* franchise. For his performance in *Everything Everywhere All at Once*, he shared the Screen Actors Guild Award with the cast, and in 2022, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, crowning a long and influential career.
