Julie Adams, born Betty May Adams (Waterloo, October 17, 1926 – Los Angeles, February 3, 2019), was an American actress, best known for her role as Kay Lawrence in the horror classic *Creature from the Black Lagoon* (1954). Her film career, which flourished in the 1950s, saw her star in numerous films, particularly Westerns, such as *Bend of the River* (1952) alongside James Stewart and *The Man from the Alamo* (1953) with Rock Hudson. From the 1960s onward, she became a familiar face on the small screen, appearing as a guest star in dozens of successful television series, including *Perry Mason*, *Murder, She Wrote*, and *Lost*. For her significant contribution to the Western genre, she was awarded the Golden Boot Award in 1999. Her iconic role in science fiction and horror cinema also earned her a Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Career Award, solidifying her legacy in two very different film genres.
