Juliette Mayniel (Saint-Hippolyte, January 22, 1936 – San Miguel de Allende, July 21, 2023) was a French actress. She rose to fame in the late 1950s as one of the faces of the Nouvelle Vague, making her debut in Claude Chabrol's film *I cugini* (1959). Her career quickly took off with roles in iconic films such as Georges Franju's *Occhi senza volto* (1960) and *Le donne facili* (1960), also by Chabrol. In the same year, she received her most significant international recognition, the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival, for her performance in the German film *Kirmes* by Wolfgang Staudte. From the 1960s onwards, her career became deeply connected to Italy, where she worked with directors such as Ettore Scola in *Il commissario Pepe* (1969) and Alberto Lattuada. She also appeared in popular genre films, such as *Piedone a Hong Kong* (1975). Romantically involved with Vittorio Gassman, she was the mother of actor and director Alessandro Gassmann. Her film work gradually diminished until her retirement from the screen in the late 1970s.
