Lajos Őze

Lajos Őze (Szentes, 27 April 1935 – Budapest, 21 October 1984) was a Hungarian actor of stage and screen, and one of the most charismatic and intense figures of his generation. A prominent member of the National Theatre (Nemzeti Színház) in Budapest, his career was also marked by memorable film performances, where he was noted for his ability to portray complex and tormented characters. His most celebrated film roles include his performance in Zoltán Fábri's *The Fifth Seal* (1976), his iconic appearance as Comrade Virág in Péter Bacsó's *The Witness* (1969), and his role in Zoltán Huszárik's *Szindbád* (1971). His deep and psychological acting style allowed him to express the nuances of the human spirit with extraordinary power. For his exceptional artistic contribution, he received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Kossuth Prize, conferred posthumously in 1990, and the Jászai Mari Prize on two occasions (1967, 1970).
