
Malcolm Keen
Malcolm Keen (1887–1970) was a British stage and film actor whose career spanned over fifty years. Born in Bristol, he began his career on stage, where he became a respected Shakespearean actor. His international fame is primarily linked to his film work, particularly his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock during the silent era. He is recognized for his role as Detective Joe Chandler in the seminal film *The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog* (1927) and for his performance in *The Manxman* (1929). Throughout his prolific career, Keen appeared in over one hundred films, both in the United Kingdom and briefly in Hollywood, often playing character roles or authority figures. His artistic legacy was carried on by his son, Geoffrey Keen, also an established actor.
