Marilù Parolini
Marilù Parolini (1931-2012) was an Italian photographer and screenwriter, a key figure of the French New Wave. Born in Cremona, she moved to Paris where she became one of the most important still photographers in auteur cinema. Her career is inextricably linked to Jean-Luc Godard, for whom she documented masterpieces such as "Le Mépris" and "Pierrot le fou," capturing the creative energy on set with an intimate and spontaneous style. She also collaborated closely with Jacques Rivette, her partner, and with Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet. Starting in the 1970s, she also worked as a screenwriter, co-writing iconic films with Rivette such as "L'amour fou" and "Céline et Julie vont en bateau." Although she did not receive major awards during her lifetime, her contribution has been widely recognized posthumously through international exhibitions and publications. Her valuable photographic archive, a fundamental testament to a cinematic era, is held at the Cinémathèque suisse.
