Michel Etcheverry (Saint-Jean-de-Luz, December 16, 1922 – Paris, March 30, 1999) was a French theater, film, and television actor, known for his commanding stage presence and deep voice. A central figure in post-war French theater, he was closely associated with Jean Vilar's Théâtre National Populaire before joining the Comédie-Française in 1961. He became a *sociétaire* in 1964 and later a *sociétaire honoraire*, the institution's highest honor. His extensive repertoire included the great classics by Molière and Racine, as well as works by modern authors. Alongside his stage work, he had a significant film career as a character actor, collaborating with internationally renowned directors. His most notable film appearances include roles in Luis Buñuel's films, such as *The Milky Way* and *The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie*, and in Costa-Gavras's *Z*, establishing himself as one of the most respected performers of his generation.
