Mietta Albertini (1949-1997) was an Italian translator and Slavist, considered one of the most authoritative figures in the mediation of Russian literature in Italy during the second half of the 20th century. Her career is inextricably linked to the translation of the great classics, to which she dedicated herself with exceptional philological rigor and stylistic sensitivity. She is primarily known for her versions of Fyodor Dostoevsky, including the definitive editions of *The Brothers Karamazov*, *The Idiot*, and *Crime and Punishment*, which are praised for their ability to convey the psychological complexity and polyphony of the original. She also produced a renowned translation of Leo Tolstoy's *Anna Karenina*. In addition to her work in publishing, she was a professor of Russian Language and Literature at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. For the exceptionally high quality of her work, she received prestigious awards, including the Grinzane Cavour Prize for Translation and the Monselice Prize, which cemented her fundamental role in the Italian cultural landscape.
