Rémy Girard is a Canadian actor, born on August 10, 1950, in Jonquière, Québec. Considered one of the most important and versatile actors in Quebec cinema and theatre, his career is closely linked to director Denys Arcand. He has starred in internationally acclaimed films by Arcand such as *The Decline of the American Empire* (1986), *Jesus of Montreal* (1989), and *The Barbarian Invasions* (2003). For the latter, in his leading role as Rémy, he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival, his most prestigious accolade.
