Tatsuya Fuji

Tatsuya Fuji, born in 1940, is a Japanese actor whose career began in the 1960s at the Nikkatsu studios, becoming a prominent figure in genre cinema, particularly in 'pinku eiga'. He achieved international fame through his collaboration with director Nagisa Ōshima, starring in the controversial film *In the Realm of the Senses* (1976) and the subsequent *Empire of Passion* (1978). Throughout his long career, he has demonstrated great versatility, working with major directors and spanning various genres. His more recent works include Takeshi Kitano's *Ryuzo and the Seven Henchmen* (2015) and Wim Wenders' *Perfect Days* (2023). For the latter performance, he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival, one of the highest accolades of his career. He has also received numerous other domestic awards, including several Blue Ribbon Awards and the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon from the Japanese government.
