Uwe Boll
Uwe Boll, born in Wermelskirchen in 1965, is a German film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is primarily known for his numerous film adaptations of video games, which are often characterized by a negative reception from critics and audiences. His international career took off in the 2000s with films such as *House of the Dead*, *Alone in the Dark*, and *BloodRayne*, often financed through a system of German tax incentives. This period earned him several negative accolades, culminating in the 2009 Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Career Achievement. Subsequently, Boll shifted his focus to independent and socio-political films, including the *Rampage* trilogy and *Darfur*, works that generated more mixed critical reactions compared to his previous works.
