Walter Kingsford (Redhill, September 20, 1882 – Hollywood, February 7, 1958) was a British actor, known as a prolific character actor in classic Hollywood cinema. He began his career on the stage before moving to Hollywood in the 1930s, where he established himself as a reliable supporting actor. Specializing in portraying authoritative and respectable figures such as doctors, judges, and professors, his fame is primarily linked to the role of Dr. Walter Carew, the stern but wise head of the hospital in MGM's popular Dr. Kildare film series (1938-1942), alongside Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore. His extensive filmography, which includes over two hundred titles, features appearances in notable films such as *The Story of Louis Pasteur* (1936), *The Man in the Iron Mask* (1939), and *Mr. Smith Goes to Washington* (1939). Although he did not receive any major awards, his consistent presence and professionalism made him a familiar and appreciated figure on the big screen for over two decades.
