
Apichatpong Weerasethakul
Apichatpong Weerasethakul is a Thai film director, screenwriter, and producer, considered one of the most original voices in contemporary auteur cinema. His style is known for its non-linear narratives, contemplative pace, and the fusion of realistic elements with dream, memory, and folklore. His career has achieved significant international acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival, where he has presented most of his works. His most celebrated works include *Tropical Malady* (2004), winner of the Jury Prize, and most notably *Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives* (2010), with which he won the prestigious Palme d'Or, becoming the first Thai director to receive this honor. His filmography also includes acclaimed works such as *Blissfully Yours* (2002), *Syndromes and a Century* (2006), and *Memoria* (2021), which was filmed outside of Thailand and also won the Jury Prize at Cannes, consolidating his status as an auteur of global significance.
