
Ben Sharpsteen
Ben Sharpsteen was an American director, producer, and animator, a key figure during the early decades of Walt Disney Studios. Hired in 1929, he contributed as a sequence director on *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs* (1937) before taking on the role of supervising director for foundational classics such as *Pinocchio* (1940) and *Dumbo* (1941). Subsequently, his career shifted from directing animation to production, where he supervised the pioneering and acclaimed nature documentary series *True-Life Adventures*. This work earned him numerous accolades, leading him to win a total of eleven Academy Awards, primarily for short films and documentaries. He was also involved in the early development of Disneyland park. After his retirement in 1959, his lasting contribution was honored with his posthumous naming as a Disney Legend in 1998.
