
Benny Safdie
Benny Safdie is an American film director, screenwriter, editor, and actor, primarily known for his artistic partnership with his brother Josh, with whom he forms the duo the Safdie brothers. Their filmmaking is characterized by a realistic, frantic, and immersive style, often set in New York. They achieved international success with films such as *Good Time* (2017), presented at the Cannes Film Festival, and especially *Uncut Gems* (2019), which received widespread critical acclaim and for which they won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director. Alongside his directing career, Safdie has developed a notable career as an actor, playing significant roles in films by other filmmakers, including Paul Thomas Anderson's *Licorice Pizza* (2021) and Christopher Nolan's *Oppenheimer* (2023), for which he shared a Screen Actors Guild Award with the cast. He recently co-created, directed, and starred in the television series *The Curse* (2023).
