
Bryan Fogel
Bryan Fogel is an American director, playwright, and author, known for his investigative journalism in documentary filmmaking. He achieved his first success with the play *Jewtopia*, co-written with Sam Wolfson, which he later adapted and directed for the screen. His international fame is primarily linked to the documentary *Icarus* (2017), with which he won the Academy Award for Best Documentary. In the film, Fogel personally investigates doping in sports, ultimately exposing the vast Russian state-sponsored scandal with the help of defector Grigory Rodchenkov. He continued his work with *The Dissident* (2020), an investigation into the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which earned him a BAFTA Award. His filmmaking is recognized for its immersive and courageous approach to addressing politically sensitive subjects of great global impact.
