Celine Song is a South Korean-Canadian director, screenwriter, and playwright. Born in South Korea, she emigrated to Canada during her adolescence. Before establishing herself in the film industry, she made a name for herself as a playwright in New York with plays such as "Endlings" and worked as a staff writer for the television series "The Wheel of Time." Her directorial debut was the semi-autobiographical film "Past Lives" (2023), which was internationally acclaimed for its sensitive exploration of the themes of identity, love, and the Korean concept of "In-Yun." The film earned her widespread critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including two Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, as well as Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, establishing her as one of the most original voices in contemporary cinema.
