Charlotte Wells is a Scottish director and screenwriter born in 1987. After completing her studies at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, she directed several critically acclaimed short films, including *Laps* (2017) and *Blue Christmas* (2017). Her career achieved international acclaim with her debut feature film *Aftersun* (2022), a semi-autobiographical work that explores the complex and elusive relationship between a young father and his daughter through memories of a holiday. Premiering at the International Critics' Week of the Cannes Film Festival, the film received an extraordinary reception.
