
Charlotte Wells
Charlotte Wells is a Scottish director and screenwriter born in 1987. After completing her studies at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, she directed several critically acclaimed short films, including *Laps* (2017) and *Blue Christmas* (2017). Her career achieved international acclaim with her debut feature film *Aftersun* (2022), a semi-autobiographical work that explores the complex and elusive relationship between a young father and his daughter through memories of a holiday. Premiering at the International Critics' Week of the Cannes Film Festival, the film received an extraordinary reception. For her direction and screenplay, Wells earned prestigious accolades, including the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer and the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a First-Time Feature Film, establishing herself as one of the most significant voices in contemporary auteur cinema.
