
George Hickenlooper
George Hickenlooper (1963-2010) was an American director, producer, and screenwriter, known primarily for his acclaimed documentary *Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse* (1991). Co-directed with Eleanor Coppola, the film explores the troubled production of *Apocalypse Now* and earned him numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award for directing and a National Board of Review Award for Best Documentary. His career later expanded into fiction filmmaking, directing works such as *The Man from Elysian Fields* (2001), starring Andy Garcia and Mick Jagger, the biopic *Factory Girl* (2006), about Andy Warhol's muse, Edie Sedgwick, and his final feature, the political satire *Casino Jack* (2010), starring Kevin Spacey. His work often explored complex and controversial figures in American culture, blending a documentary approach with traditional narrative. His premature death occurred shortly before the release of his last film.
