This work inaugurated his acclaimed collaboration with actor Daniel Day-Lewis, which continued with powerful films such as *In the Name of the Father* (1993), winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and nominated for seven Academy Awards, and *The Boxer* (1997). Through these films, Sheridan explored the political and social tensions of Ireland, with a particular focus on stories of injustice and complex family relationships.
