
Jonas Poher Rasmussen
Jonas Poher Rasmussen, born in 1981, is a Danish film director and screenwriter. A graduate of the Super16 film school, he began his career directing radio and film documentaries that explore complex personal stories, such as *Searching for Bill* (2012) and *What He Did* (2015). He achieved international acclaim with the animated documentary *Flee* (2021). The film, based on the true story of his friend Amin Nawabi, an Afghan refugee, uses animation to protect his identity and visualize his traumatic memories. *Flee* received universal acclaim, setting a historic record by being nominated for three Academy Awards in different categories: Best Animated Feature, Best Documentary Feature, and Best International Feature Film. It has also won numerous other accolades, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the awards for Best Documentary and Best Animated Film at the European Film Awards, solidifying Rasmussen's reputation as an innovative voice in contemporary documentary filmmaking.
