
Jonathan Dayton
Jonathan Dayton, born on July 7, 1957, is an American film director and producer, known for his artistic and personal partnership with his wife, Valerie Faris. The couple began their career directing highly successful music videos in the 1990s for artists such as The Smashing Pumpkins ("Tonight, Tonight") and Red Hot Chili Peppers ("Californication"), earning them numerous MTV Video Music Awards and a Grammy Award. Their feature film debut, the comedy-drama *Little Miss Sunshine* (2006), was an international critical and commercial success, receiving four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and winning the César Award for Best Foreign Film and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director. Their subsequent works include the films *Ruby Sparks* (2012) and *Battle of the Sexes* (2017), which have solidified their reputation for a style of cinema that sensitively explores human dynamics. More recently, they have directed episodes for the television series *Living with Yourself* (2019) and *Fleishman Is in Trouble* (2022).
