Juliano Ribeiro Salgado is a Brazilian director, screenwriter, and documentary filmmaker born in 1974. The son of renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado, he has primarily focused his career on directing documentaries with a strong social and visual impact. His most internationally known work is the film *The Salt of the Earth* (2014), co-directed with German director Wim Wenders. The documentary, an intimate and powerful portrait of his father's life and work, received widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards. Among the most prestigious are the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and the César Award for Best Documentary in 2015, as well as an Academy Award nomination in the same category. His body of work also includes other documentaries that explore humanitarian and environmental themes, continuing a path of inquiry into the human condition parallel to that of his father.
