Mário Peixoto
Mário Peixoto (Brussels, March 25, 1908 – Rio de Janeiro, February 3, 1992) was a Brazilian director, poet, and writer. His film career is inextricably linked to his only feature film, *Limite*, made in 1931. Considered a masterpiece of silent and avant-garde cinema, the film is an experimental work with a non-linear narrative that explores the memories of three characters adrift in a boat. Despite several attempts, Peixoto never completed any other films, focusing primarily on writing. His literary output includes poems and the monumental novel *O Inútil de Cada Um*, published posthumously. Internationally recognized, *Limite* has been restored and is consistently ranked among the most important films in the history of Brazilian cinema, consolidating Peixoto's reputation as a cult figure and a pioneer of cinematic art in his country.
