Muffie Meyer is an American director, producer, and editor, known primarily for her work in documentary filmmaking. She achieved international fame as the co-director and editor of the cult film *Grey Gardens* (1975), made with David and Albert Maysles. This work is considered a milestone of the *cinéma vérité* genre for its intimate and non-interventionist approach. Subsequently, she co-founded the production company Middlemarch Films with her long-time collaborator Ellen Hovde. Through this company, she has directed and produced acclaimed historical series for PBS, including *Liberty! The American Revolution* (1997) and the miniseries *Benjamin Franklin* (2002). For the latter, she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Non-Fiction Program. Her style is distinguished by its narrative depth and documentary rigor, which have solidified her reputation in the American television and film landscape.
