Nicolas Roeg (1928-2018) was an influential British film director and cinematographer, known for his distinctive visual style and non-linear narratives. He began his career as a camera operator and cinematographer, contributing to celebrated films such as *Lawrence of Arabia* (1962) and *Fahrenheit 451* (1966). His directorial debut with *Performance* (1970) became a cult film, but it was with works such as *Walkabout* (1971), the psychological thriller *Don't Look Now* (1973), and the science fiction film *The Man Who Fell to Earth* (1976) that he solidified his international reputation. His filmmaking is characterized by fragmented editing and a complex exploration of themes such as memory, identity, and the perception of time. For his outstanding contribution to the art of cinema, he was awarded the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship.
