
Stephan Elliott
Stephan Elliott, an Australian director and screenwriter born in Sydney in 1964, is internationally renowned for directing and writing the cult film *Priscilla, Queen of the Desert* (1994). The film achieved global success and an Academy Award for Best Costume Design, earning Elliott BAFTA and WGA nominations for Best Original Screenplay. His career began with the black comedy *Frauds* (1993), which was presented in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. His subsequent works include the thriller *Eye of the Beholder* (1999), the romantic comedy *Easy Virtue* (2008), based on a play by Noël Coward, and the more recent comedy *Swinging Safari* (2018). Elliott also co-wrote the book for the acclaimed stage adaptation *Priscilla, Queen of the Desert – The Musical*, which has had successful runs around the world, consolidating the cultural impact of his most celebrated work.
