Todd Field is an American actor, screenwriter, and director. Initially known as an actor, his best-known role is that of the pianist Nick Nightingale in Stanley Kubrick's *Eyes Wide Shut*. He made his directorial debut with the film *In the Bedroom* (2001), which was critically acclaimed and nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay for Field himself. His second feature film, *Little Children* (2006), consolidated his reputation, earning three Academy Award nominations, including another for his screenplay. After a sixteen-year hiatus, he returned to directing with *Tár* (2022).
