Albert Rémy

Albert Rémy (1915 – 1967) was a French actor, known for his character roles. His cinematic career was marked by significant collaborations, particularly with Jean Renoir, with whom he is inextricably linked to two masterpieces: *Grand Illusion* (1937), where he played Corporal Coudert, and *The Rules of the Game* (1939), in the memorable role of gamekeeper Marceau.

He also collaborated with Marcel Carné on *Children of Paradise* (1945), with Robert Bresson in *A Man Escaped* (1956) as the protagonist's cellmate, and with Jean-Pierre Melville in *Le Doulos* (1962).

Rémy distinguished himself by his ability to embody common characters, often figures from the working class or ordinary people. His expressive face and physicality made him perfect for roles as simple, loyal, or sometimes somewhat gruff men, lending authenticity and depth even to minor roles.
