Aldo Silvani

**Aldo Silvani (1893-1961)** was a prolific Italian film actor, active from the 1930s and an iconic figure of post-war Italian cinema.

Specializing in character roles, Silvani was known for his ability to embody elderly characters, often dignified, wise, authoritative, or benevolent, but sometimes also melancholic or gruff. His acting, always measured and naturalistic, made him a familiar and appreciated face.

He left an indelible mark on numerous Neorealist and dramatic masterpieces. His most memorable performances include those in Vittorio De Sica's *Miracle in Milan* (1951) and *Umberto D.* (1952), Luchino Visconti's *Bellissima* (1951), and De Sica's *The Roof* (1956). His discreet but incisive presence made him a symbol of authentic and profoundly human cinema.
