**Alfonso Mejía (1934-2021)** was a Mexican actor, primarily remembered for his intense performance in Luis Buñuel's masterpiece, *Los Olvidados* (1950). His portrayal of Pedro, an innocent teenager swept up by poverty and urban delinquency, earned him widespread acclaim and defined him as a symbol of tormented post-war youth.

Throughout his career, Mejía often played sensitive, tormented, and morally ambiguous young characters, victims of social circumstances. Among his other significant works are *La edad de la tentación* (1959) and *El tunco Maclovio* (1970), the latter being a Mexican Western. He was an emblematic figure of Mexican Golden Age cinema, especially in the 1950s and 1960s.
