Alla Demidova

Alla Demidova (born 1936) is one of the most significant Russian actresses of the 20th century. Although also renowned in theater, her film career established her as an interpreter of complex and intellectual roles. With her enigmatic, intense, and often detached style, she personified strong, independent, and aristocratic female figures.

She collaborated with prominent directors such as Sergei Paradjanov in the dreamlike masterpiece *The Color of Pomegranates* (Sayat Nova, 1969), where she embodies multiple roles with a magnetic presence. Her performance in Kira Muratova's *Long Farewells* (Dolgiyye provody, 1971), an emblematic film of her dramatic talent, was fundamental. She also shined in Aleksey German's *My Friend Ivan Lapshin* (Moy drug Ivan Lapshin, 1984), solidifying her image as a profound and never ordinary actress.

Her filmography is dotted with memorable characters that have made her an icon of Soviet and Russian auteur cinema.
