**Allen Jenkins (1900-1974)** was an American character actor, known for his versatility and ability to portray "everyman" characters with a unique touch. Extremely prolific from the 1930s to the 1970s, he established himself as a familiar face in Hollywood, often appearing in Warner Bros. genre films.

Jenkins excelled in roles as a comic sidekick or a loyal but grumpy friend, policeman, taxi driver, reporter, or small-time gangster. His gravelly voice and gruff expression made him instantly recognizable. Among his most famous films are classics such as *42nd Street* (1933), *I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang* (1932), and *Mr. Deeds Goes to Town* (1936).
