Born Hanne Karin Bayer in Denmark, Anna Karina (1940-2019) was a French-Danish actress, singer, and director, an iconic figure of the Nouvelle Vague.
Rising to prominence as the muse and key collaborator of Jean-Luc Godard, her husband, she starred in seven of his most significant films, defining the aesthetic of the movement. Her unforgettable performances include *A Woman Is a Woman* (1961), for which she won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at Berlin, *My Life to Live* (1962), *Band of Outsiders* (1964), and *Pierrot le Fou* (1965).
