Aud Egede Nissen
**Aud Egede Nissen** (Oslo, May 30, 1893 – Oslo, November 6, 1974) was a Norwegian actress, a leading figure in German silent cinema.
She was known for portraying strong women, often tragic or independent, sometimes taking on vamp roles. Among her most significant performances were those of Baroness Dusy Told in Fritz Lang's *Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler* (1922) and Countess Geschwitz in G.W. Pabst's *Erdgeist* (1923), a film that anticipated the famous *Lulu*. She also appeared in Karl Grune's *Die Straße* (1923) and, in the early 1920s, directed several short films and features.
Her film career declined with the advent of sound, although she continued to act occasionally until the 1930s.
