**Ayberk Pekcan (1970–2022)** was a Turkish actor known for his prolific film career and intense performances. He gained international recognition primarily through his collaborations with director Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

Among his most significant roles are those in *Uzak* (Distant, 2002), *Üç Maymun* (Three Monkeys, 2008) and, in particular, *Kış Uykusu* (Winter Sleep, 2014), winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes, where he played the troubled character Hamdi.

Pekcan distinguished himself in portraying complex characters, often introverted, taciturn or tormented figures rooted in difficult rural or social contexts. His acting style was characterized by a profound authenticity and a sober but powerful stage presence, capable of communicating emotional intensity with expressive minimalism. Although also active in television, his most significant mark remains in arthouse cinema.
