Among his most notable films are *Airport* (1970), where he played an airline executive caught in a crisis, and especially Stanley Kubrick's *The Shining* (1980), in the role of the affable but unsettling Overlook Hotel manager, Stuart Ullman. He is also historically known for being the first actor to portray James Bond, albeit in a television production (*Casino Royale*, 1954).
