Barton MacLane

Barton MacLane (1902-1969) was an American character actor, noted for his prolific career and versatility in bringing to life prominent figures in Hollywood cinema. He is remembered for his roles as gruff, authoritative characters, often on the wrong side of the law, or as figures of authority. His raspy voice and imposing presence made him perfectly suited to play policemen, gangsters, military personnel, or detectives.

With a filmography encompassing over 150 titles, he was particularly active in the 1930s and 1940s, often as a contract player for Warner Bros. Among his most iconic roles are Lieutenant Dundy in *The Maltese Falcon* (1941) and his appearances in numerous crime dramas and film noirs such as *G-Men* (1935) and *You Can't Get Away With Murder* (1939), solidifying his image as a reliable actor for strong characters.
