**Bebe Daniels (1901-1971)** was an American actress whose career successfully spanned the silent and sound film eras. She began as a child prodigy, before establishing herself as a silent film star alongside Harold Lloyd in the celebrated "Lonesome Luke" comedies, where she played the lively and charming "damsels in distress."

Later, at Paramount, she transitioned to more sophisticated and dramatic roles, including under the direction of Cecil B. DeMille, in films such as "Why Change Your Wife?" (1920). She was among the few stars to make a triumphant transition to sound film, achieving great success with the musical "Rio Rita" (1929). Her style was characterized by natural vivacity, elegance, and remarkable versatility, which allowed her to excel in both brisk comedies and intense dramas, solidifying her image as a complete actress.
